Dr. William Greer
Dr. Greer is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine with a particular interest in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee. He attended Harvard University as an undergraduate and went on to Temple University where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Being a native of Western Pennsylvania, he returned to Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) for his Residency.
Upon graduation from AGH, Dr. Greer continued to foster his interest in Sports Medicine by completing an additional fellowship year at the prestigious Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. While there, he assisted in the care of numerous professional athletes including those from the LA Dodgers, LA Lakers, and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
Clinically, Dr. Greer employs the latest operative and arthroscopic techniques to treat the majority of shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle problems, including rotator cuff tears, and osteochondral lesions of the knee. He also performs joint replacement surgery of the shoulder.
Dr. Greer is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has previously served as a team physician for the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Club and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Soccer Club. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. David Girdany, M.D.
Dr. Girdany has 26 years of professional experience in joint replacement procedures and arthroscopic surgery. Most recently, he was in practice at UPMC Bedford Orthopaedics. He has also served as a partner with Orthopaedic Surgery Associates of Latrobe and East Suburban Orthopedic Associates of Monroeville.
Dr. Girdany graduated from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed an internship/residency in general surgery at York Hospital and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Girdany is board certified in orthopaedic surgery.
He formerly served as the Chief of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chairman of the Operating Room Committee at the Forbes Regional Hospital. In addition, Dr. Girdany is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society.

Shantae Seifert, PA-C
Ms. Shantae Seifert, certified physician assistant, provides exceptional care to patients at Somerset Orthopaedics. Ms. Seifert treats joint and arthritis pain, offers new patient assessment and works with Dr. William Greer to manage sports related injuries. Seifert is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, holding a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and attended Saint Francis University earning her Master of Science Degree. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
